Califonia Bountiful

From the editors: A portrait of change

January/February 2018 California Bountiful magazine

Like the shifting of the seasons, the face of agriculture in California constantly changes. Not content with the status quo, our state's farmers endlessly tinker, innovate, dream and do.

In this issue, we bring you the story of the first farmers to successfully introduce a crop that's enjoyed by millions every day but is new to California—tea. You'll meet an aquaculture farmer who brought a unique fish  to market and to the holiday tables of Californians celebrating Lunar New Year.

Join us as we travel the Fresno County Blossom Trail, where farmers think beyond the farm stand to offer visitors a world-class tour of spring blooms. Learn about the eco-minded innovations of the farmers and land stewards who were recognized with the Leopold Conservation Award.

And you might gain a new appreciation for farming's many faces from the winning images of our 2017 Photo Contest, "Focus: California."

We can't wait to see what California farmers will bring us next. We may not know what surprises tomorrow has in store, but in our fertile state, each new day is bound to be bountiful. And we'll be there to share the bounty with you.
