Grapes 101

A bunch of new ideas on how to use grapes!

For more than two centuries, Californians have been growing grapes—and for almost as long, we have been finding new and inventive ways to eat them. In this segment, California Bountiful TV Host Tracy Sellers highlights two very different ways to enjoy the sweet treats: by freezing them and by baking them.

To freeze grapes, use seedless grapes and wash and destem them. Pat dry and place clean, dry grapes on a baking sheet lined with wax paper (this will prevent the grapes from sticking together) and place in the freezer. Once completely frozen, place in a freezer bag and store in the freezer until needed. You can enjoy frozen grapes either as a healthy snack or as a way to keep beverages (such as white wine) chilled without watering it down or diluting the flavor. 

On the other end of the spectrum, grapes can be enjoyed baked as well. Their sweet flavors are enhanced by the intense heat. In this recipe, baked grapes pair perfectly with the salty highlights of brie cheese and the buttery nuances of olive oil!
