Young entrepreneurs are getting an early start to securing their future

They say if you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life. Tyler Christensen is a living, breathing example of that. A fifth-generation farmer in Red Bluff, he is surrounded every day by the work he loves on his prune and walnut orchards, and the people he loves: his wife, Mary, and their kids, Hank and Haley.

As all parents do, Tyler and Mary wanted their children to grow up learning the value of a dollar and knowing what hard work feels like. So, when Hank and Haley were in elementary school, they were encouraged to think big—and they did! Instead of simply preparing to take over the family business, they decided to create their own and The College Fund Nut Co. was born!

The College Fund Nut Co. is exactly what it sounds like: a way for these teens to earn money to further their education. So now in addition to their schoolwork and helping out with the farming operations, they are working toward college by marketing, selling and even delivering their products, which include dried fruit and nuts, to local businesses. And both Haley and Hank take active roles in their businesses, as they monitor the crops, farm alongside their dad, and work on invoicing and billing with their mom.

Continuing the family traditions of caring for the land, farming and being a positive part of their community is what these young tycoons are all about. And for their parents, it's all about family, working hard and savoring their time together—all of which you can't put a price on!
