Aunt Doralie's pomegranate cranberry sauce

This recipe from pomegranate farmer Jeff Simonian of Simonian Fruit Co. is a family favorite and a must on their holiday table.

1 (12-oz.) bag cranberries
16 oz. pomegranate juice
1 cup sugar
1 orange, juiced
1 tsp. orange zest
1 cup pomegranate arils


In a saucepan, combine cranberries, pomegranate juice, sugar, orange juice and orange zest. Cook 20 minutes over medium heat. Remove from heat and let cool. When cool, stir in pomegranate arils. Sauce will thicken when cold. Serve with turkey, chicken or duck.
